Description
The Go-To Protectant Pack Cover for Hiking
We’ve created our protectant pack cover for hiking using Xenon 1.1 for printed options and Sil Nylon for solid colors. The result is a waterproof pack cover that weighs less than two ounces. It’s also easy and convenient to store.
Our protectant pack’s hardware includes a 3/32-inch shock cord and mini cord lock, so it adjusts to your bag and keeps it dry against rain and snow. It’s also simple and quick to pull over and tighten to your pack, which is handy during sudden downpours. Its adjustable size lets it fit both medium and large-sized packs.
A Fit for Every Backpacking Pack
DutchWare’s pack cover for backpacking fits the following packs:
- ULA Catalyst
- OHM 2.0
- Golite Jam 50
- REI Flash 45
- REI Crestrail 48

- And more!
We also offer a selection of colors so you can customize your protectant pack cover for hiking to coordinate with your other backpacking gear.

I’ve used it on my for ULA- OHM backpack but it also fits my 2015 Gossamer Gear MariposaI’ve used it on my for ULA- OHM backpack but it also fits my 2015 Gossamer Gear Mariposa. Not much to add to what has already been written. The pack cover comes in a plastic bag that didn’t last so I now carry it in a silnylon bag. The material, price & weight combo aren’t comparrable with many other pack covers.

You gotta watch thet guy, he’s too quietSo there are things about this pack cover Dutch is not telling you. I dunno if he is just busy or if he enjoys being sneaky like that. Anyway…there are four cut-outs around the perimeter drawcord channel which can make it markedly more useful beyond covering a pack if you got your pack-cover-fu goin’ on. One of these is the exit for the cord lock. The others are spaced evenly. So for example if you place the cord lock at the top corner of your pack you can run a line through the elastic drawcord exposed at the two bottom corners and run it around the back your pack behind your back to keep it in place during those hurricane-force mountain windstorms. Or you can attach a minibineer to two opposite openings and make a passable gear hammock. Or you can button up all four with a single ‘bineer and make a large water carrier. Or a makeshift bear hang bag. Or connect three corners, fill with water and hoist to make a camp shower.
But what you can’t, unfortunately, do with this carrier is stuff it into it’s integral stuff sack. ‘Cause there’s not one. I’d pay a couple more bucks for that. Guess I’ll have to sew by own, or girth hitch a small stuff sack to it.

I bought one of these for my wif’e to use with her REI Cresttrail 48. It’s lightweight, well made, fit her pack perfectly and a GREAT value. I only wish Dutchware made one big enough to fit my GoLite Terrono 80.

Fits my GG Mariposa well. Fits my GG Mariposa well. Dutch’s rain cover is light enough that I’ll just keep it in my pack. 3 things I appreciate about Dutch:
1. Great gear
2. Prompt shipping.
3. Fair shipping prices.

Really impressive on my Aether 70
Even after reading descriptions and reviews, I was surprised by how light this fabric is. I had it out this weekend during a rainy day on SHT. I was concerned it would snag and tear easily. I am happy to report that it did not tear, despite several opportunities to do so.
This fit my Osprey Aether AG 70 just fine. In fact, with my underquilt and boots (yes, large hiking boots…long story) strapped to the outside of the pack, it still fit. That’s probably the limit of vertical reach it has, but I could have put more things on the sides if necessary.
