Just as the tagline suggests, it is a representation of baseline colors, textures, and natural, organic shapes found within an environment.  The SUBSTRATE patterns are lighter in contrast and tone for good reason.  It is easier to darken a uniform in the field with dirt, mud, water, and charcoal.

Description

The pattern name SUBSTRATE was chosen because it means a layer or layers underneath.  This is how the pattern was created, using multiple research photographs and images that were digitally manipulated and recolored, stacked, and set at varying levels of transparency and opacity to create the SUBSTRATE line of patterns.

Despite the affinity some may have towards this new camouflage pattern, the reality is no camouflage pattern is either perfect or universal. In a world that thrives on personal opinion and cognitive bias, to make such an erroneous claim would be both arrogant and naive. The primary purpose of the SUBSTRATE pattern is to match the baseline of a particular environment as close as possible. Therefore, we encourage and highly recommend the end user to supplement their camouflage and concealment protocols with additional vegetative material from the local environment.

SUBSTRATE Sagebrush is a grassy, multi-terrain/multi-season pattern designed for sparsely vegetated, arid regions to temperate regions.  A perfect pattern for ghillie suit base layers because of its colorations, shadows, and simulated texture.

SUBSTRATE Species features design elements that are 100% nature-made.  Environmental textures, fur, skin and scale textures, combined with natural colorways that blend into multiple environments.

SUBSTRATE Sniper was developed to be a base layer for ghillie suits that features both horizontal and vertical elements and colorations that were neither too brown nor too green.

SUBSTRATE Sierra The original design pattern featuring layers of digitally manipulated and converted NATURALLY occurring elements of varying opacity, colorways, and textures to create the illusion of both depth and contrast.  The Sierra pattern intentionally lacks the smooth man-made lines associated with other camouflage patterns on the market today.

SUBSTRATE Sherwood Varying overlays of light and dark greens placed over the top of the Sierra pattern to blend into temperate and tropical environments.  The contrast allows for variations of existing sunlight caused by a denser forest canopy.  It also steers clear of recognizable broad-leaf and coniferous vegetation.

SUBSTRATE Snowfall A partial winter/alpine pattern that blends better around the snowline and light snowfall areas, while showcasing a more pronounced presence of the Sierra pattern. The snow portions are oriented horizontally as it would occur in nature.

SUBSTRATE Snowspruce A winter pattern with representations of snow-laden pine boughs; perfect for coniferous and evergreen clusters.

SUBSTRATE Spec-Op is slightly subdued version of the pattern used for the SUBSTRATE Street-Series lifestyle patterns.  The overlay produced a tactically colored palette suitable for anything from airsoft and paintball to tactical operations.

SUBSTRATE Shadow-Op is a darker subdued version of its cousin pattern, Spec-Op.  The pattern is dark enough to use for night operations while still maintaining visible greens and browns for use in thick forest regions with reduced sunlight.

SUBSTRATE Stalker provides more mobility options compared with other high-definition camouflage patterns with its abstract elements and multi-seasonal colorations.

SUBSTRATE Sydney Australia is known for its unique and wild, rugged bush land.  It is now where my family calls home.  As a veteran, I took inspiration from the traditional colors of the AUSCAM pattern; wanting to honor the proud ANZAC  military heritage, while combining it with the artistic and textural elements of the SUBSTRATE patterns.

SUBSTRATE Salisbury I took the popular and effective colorways from the Rhodesian Brushstroke pattern and re-imagined it with some of the SUBSTRATE shapes and layering techniques.  The results revive a popular pattern and extend its longevity as one of the world’s most popular patterns.

SUBSTRATE Stuttgart Using the colorway of the famous German Flecktarn, I incorporated some of the distinctive creative elements of SUBSTRATE to make a new incarnation.  The name pays homage to my wife’s hometown of Stuttgart, Germany and is a fitting match.
SUBSTRATE Sedona The current US Army pattern, while effective in a wide variety of terrains, its popularity is now beginning to compromise that effectiveness through pattern recognition.  By adding the colorway to the SUBSTRATE elements, it returns to and exceeds its former effectiveness.
