Last weekend we camped out in very wet conditions just above freezing. My tarp kept my dry and my new hammock sock trapped in some heat and kept the breezes at bay! Nice addition to my cold weather setup, thanks Dutchware team!

    excellent winter sock!

I like winter camping and this easily extends the temperature rating of my 15 degree top and bottom quilts. Gives me peace of mind is the weather turns really bad…helps keep my bottom quilt high n dry off the snow/dirt. If the wind kicks bad I’m easily as protected as if in a tent in combo with my fly.
If you like to camp in frigid conditions….this is a great insurance policy. I thought about it one morning and I can not think of any change that would make it better. The zipper is perfectly placed and operates freely. The noseeum is just right. I use it on my ENO double nest with outdoors Vitals down 15 degree top+bottom quilts. Ill be thinking about dutch-wear products in the future. very happy so far.

Impervious shelter at a minimal weight and price

Owning this piece of gear isn’t even debatable when the temps are below 40 degrees. I’ve used this item several times this year in heavy wind, rain, and temps from the high 20’s to low 30’s. When used in these conditions, I am completely enveloped in my own safe microclimate. I have never experienced condensation, the peak vent is superbly positioned. The zipper is a dream to open and close because I can pull the entire sock towards me, and I am no longer at the mercy of my attached zippered bug net requiring me to perform acrobatics for urgent mid-morning nature calls.

    Very Happy with My Purchase

Used this winter sock this past weekend where temps fell to 16°F. The sock blocked the cold wind that blew under the tarp and probably would protect my UQ from any outside moisture/condensation. This sock also blocked out most of the outside light and kept the temperature inside the sock several degrees warmer than the outside. NOTE: with an outside temp at 16°F there were minimal amounts of condensation that accumulated near the vented area above my head but nothing particularly uncomfortable. I purchased the sock with the zippered option. Both zippers glided easily and came with nice sized pulls that you could grasp easily even with thick gloves. Another bonus for ordering the zippers is that it allowed me to sit in the hammock with the sock unzipped so the top flap could be thrown back over the ridgeline. This kept my back and sides protected from any cold wind blowing while I sat back sipping my hot tea and enjoying the view.

Just used these camping in mid thirtiesJust used these camping in mid thirties. Middle of the night nature called, when I pulled back sock I was shocked at the temp difference between inside sock and outside. I use the Summer Sock but even that adds a nice micro environment. Used to store separate but they roll right up with hammock into Dutch’s bishop bag.

This is one of my favorite pieces of gear. I take it every time I hammock camp. When ever there is a cool breeze, a cold wind, or a wind and rain storm, this thing will add several degrees to your sleep system. It is not 100 percent water proof, but it has saved me several nights from sideways rain coming in under the tarp. Even when the wind is flapping the sock so loud you can’t sleep, I was able to continue through the night in comfort and peace of mind because I was warm and dry inside. The vent over my head gives me plenty of breathability, I’ve never had a condensation issue. Five stars A must have product.

First deep winter trip - Dutchware sock was (almost) perfect!

    Philip Hamm (verified owner)

I recently went on my first deep winter trip – temps well below -10F (it was -12 when we went to bed at 11PM – colder at night). This was my first time hammocking in the winter. As such after some research I came across this winter sock as a good solution for under my hammock tarp. When I woke up in the morning I was still warm and there was no condensation anywhere to be seen. A companion shook out a lot of ice out of his individual tent. All my gear was dry. The sock worked very well.

My only caveat is that I ordered the sock with the zipper – if I had to do it again I would order without – it is easier to just reach up and slide the sock closed over the ridgeline than to open and close the zipper. I have the zipper and I won’t use it again. I recommend the version of this sock without the zipper.

    Quality product. Easy to use.

I bought the winter sock after using and loving the summer sock. It is the same fine quality. Like the ease of use. You can use it to cover any portion of the ha!mock during day then completely enclose self at night.
Service is also great. Get items very quickly. Think the website is fantastic!

    MY FAVORITE DUTCHWARE ACCESSORY

I love this net, it adds warmth to marginal gear. I also love the fact it blocks light in case you want to sleep in or ignore a neighbor’s light. I’ve used it so much I’m ordering a second one.

Winter sock worked great this weekend!

I did a spring backpacking trip this weekend in the wild river wilderness in the White Mountains of New Hampshire . Wasn’t sure how low the temps would go so I brought along my winter sock. it worked great for reducing the condensation in my Hammock but blocked the wind and protected the bottom of my under quilt from the rain that night . Everyone at dutchware was very helpful in helping to make this purchase I highly recommend for anyone doing winter or spring or even summer in the White Mountains Hammocking

    WHAT A DIFFERENCE!

What a difference this winter sock makes! Used it with the temp at 21F and had no trouble keeping warm. The vented space allowed just enough of my breath to escape to keep things nice and dry but keep me nice and warm! Great product Dutch!

    Works fantastic!

Works fantastic! I made the mistake of thinking I could use this at 60 degrees in lieu of a bugnet and almost sweated to death. Really useful to block the wind and help keep some of your heat in the hammock.

I use a 3 season underquilt but, this windbreaker is the best accessory to compliment my quilt for winter camping! It is amazing how much warmer you are in your hammock just by preventing the wind from blowing across the top of you during the night. Buy it! You wont regret it!
