My previous review seems to have disappeared but as I’ve had time to use these, my awareness of their difference to the competition is more acute:
They are lighter
The loops are closer together giving more precise increments for “best fit”
They cost less
They are way prettier
They work for large and small trees. Other straps come in around 9 feet and they can be too small for trees in the Pacific Northwest. One manufacturer makes and XL chain, but just the tail that goes round the tree is longer. As such, it is more trouble with smaller trees.
The spider chain is “Nothing but loop” so a long length will wrap and connect around a small tree just as easily has a large tree. Because the spider chain is so light, there is hardly any penalty for getting one a little longer – just in case.

James Joslin –
How do I go about ordering 2x 14FT straps? I get a 500 error when trying to add the second strap to my cart. Or could I order 28FT and cut it in half?

Carolyn (verified owner) –
Yes, please order 28′ and then in the notes of your order please let us know that you would like it cut into two 14′ straps.

Hey! Wondering how to order longer length? Do I just up the quantity or am I missing something? I do not see how yo add length to these things as I want quite a bit!

Carolyn (verified owner) –
Yes, change the quantity to reflect the number of feet that you would like and then place your order.

I am amazed how light these are. I gave my son a pair for Christmas to replace his Atlas straps then ordered a pair for my new netless hammock. Same price for 10′ straps as that other kind, but these are a foot longer, all loop, and significantly lighter. I’ve found my alternative to cinch buckles. My hammock, these straps, and hardware came in right at 16oz!

They are the same size as they are both 3″.

Question
bfootballj216 –
If I buy 2 6 foot sections of this and 2 4 foot spider 2.0 huggers could I do a soft connection ( basically a brummel lock but with the end loop of the daisy and the loop on the hugger) without compromising too much strength at the connection? Comes out to 2.7 ounces which is pretty good for daisy chain suspension

Carolyn (verified owner) –
Yes that will work just fine.

Question

I love how light and strong the spider daisy chain straps are. Will you have different color options, say more earth colors in the future? Nearly all of my gear are in camo or earthy colors to blend into my environment, the bright blue/black webbing really stood out. If there was a OD green/black or camo colors in spider daisy chain, I would buy them in a heartbeat.

Unfortunately we do not have plans to carry this webbing in a wider selection of colors.

Question
Michael Raymo –
If I wanted two 10 ft straps do I just order 20 ft and cut it in half? will the ends fray or is there something i do to the ends like melt them or fabric glue?
(0) (0) Watch Unwatch
Carolyn Palmer –
Yes you will order 20ft and then if you put a note on your order for us to cut them into 2 10′ sections we will. If you do not please cut them in the middle of a loop not to compromise strength.

These straps are lighter, pack down smaller, stretch less, and are easier to setup/deploy than any other strap type. I attached a photo comparing two 12′ Dutchware daisy chains to a pair of 9′ daisy chains that don’t even have loops for two-thirds of their length. Also, the two 12′ Spider Daisy Chains weight about a third less (122g for the pair of 12; Spider Daisy Chains). Since I haven’t really seen an accurate buyers guide to breakdown the different suspension options summarized in one place, I’ll add mine below.
ENO Daisy Chains: It was a spontaneous purchase you made when you went shopping with your girlfriend. You think carabiners are cool.
Spider Daisy Chains: Your other pair of daisy chains didn’t have enough loops to be useful, so you got something that is nothing but loops. This is what to get people that are just getting into the craft of hammocking for leisure or for camping. This is also what to get people that have been in the craft for a while but are still using inferior straps. This is what to get kids to go with their hammock.
Whoopie Slings: You like magic.
Spider/Poly straps and hardware: You appreciate how your Apple Watch talks to your iPhone.
Polyester Strapping and Becket Hitch: You lost your Spider/Poly straps and hardware combo and can’t stand the thought of laying out that much cash again. Or, your hardware rubbed a hole in your gear on a previous trip and you want to experiment with something “softer.”
1.5 Spider Web Straps and Becket Hitch: You liked your polyester strap experiment so much that you wanted to try something fancy. Or, you are a weight weenie extraordinaire and you don’t care who knows it.
