I’ve used Climashield to make a sleeping bag and a children’s parka so far.I’ve used Climashield to make a sleeping bag and a children’s parka so far. It is light and warm, and not ridiculously hard to sew, though I needed to practice. It is not as soft and compressible as Primaloft (my only gripe). The child’s parka can stand up on its own (with 6 oz) and I needed to make the arms wider just to accommodate the bulk of the insulation. However, for the sleeping bag it was just awesome. I serged the insulation to the shell before constructing and it worked pretty well. I didn’t add quilting beyond the construction seams, but I wouldn’t worry about losing loft with quilting – it puffs right back up around a straight stitch. This was hands down the best deal for shipping to Alaska. Another shop charged twice as much as Dutch, so I’m back for more.
