Work awesome!Have two of these on each of our Chameleons. Work great, lots of storage, and ingeniously keeps your stuff tucked away until needed. Well designed and executed!

Peak shelf is a simple effective system that allows to stow items securely & out of the way. Ideal for holding rain or down jackets , balaclava, beanie or gloves in the event of expected bad weather. It slides away from the gathered end to allow for easy access or load & then slides back toward the hammock end out of the way.
Can be used at either end of the hammock. I have had no issues with it interfering with my head space or my storage pocket. Highly recommended !

This is a great addition to my Chameleon, I don’t like leaving to much of my things outside here in Australia, lots of stuff like climbing in your boots and gear.
Recommend this to anyone.

I just used this for the first time this past weekend in my chameleon and it’s awesome! I tossed some extra clothing, as well as a few other items in the peak shelf in case I wanted more layers (in this case I ended up taking off a few layers overnight and placing them in the peak shelf) or needed to get up in the middle of the night for whatever reason. It was so convenient to use and to keep items with me in order to keep bugs out of and off of my stuff (I have the symmetrical bug net). I’m so happy with this purchase.

I like to read a bit before settling down for the night in my hammock. I was putting my book above my head and hoping it would stay there but woke up too many times with a book sticking into my ribs. The Peak Shelf solves this and gives me a place to put other stuff I want in the hammock with me but don’t need instant access to (charging batteries, book, jacket, etc.). If you’re ordering a Chameleon, just add one of these and the sidecar now.

So good, I had to have 2
I got the peak shelf with the kickstarter. Loved it so much I got a second for the head end. Last weekend neither got in my way and held all I needed them to.

Liked the first so much we bought 3 more.
We bought a lightly used Chameleon that came with one peak shelf. It was immediately apparent to us that this is a must have item. I bought a second shelf for that hammock and shortly afterward ordered a second Chameleon with two shelves.
Great for those hot nights to store the summer quilt at the foot shelf ready to be pulled out for the 4am temp drop. Beenie, gloves and other lighter weight stuff over the head end. These leave the RL organizer open for phone, glasses, ear plugs without so much clutter. We feel these shelves allow for better organization and ease of use.

The peak shelf is super handy. I use at the head end for water, book, pillow. I’m thinking about getting another for the other end.

When installing my Peak Shelf one of the clips broke. I emailed Dutchware and sent a picture and they sent me a replacement clip. Dutch and his team are great and I can’t wait to take my new hammock camping.

Very practical: Accessible without hindering the sleeper’s position. I mounted one at each end of the hammock: At the feet for the storage of equipment such as packaging covers or material for the day, at the head for down, pillow,…, accessible while lying down.

I have two of these, and LOVE them. One I use in a hammock with regular gathered ends and then sewed on some tiny rubber sink gaskets for the sides. The other is my beloved aging WBBB, and I was able to accomodate its “fixed” ends too by simply putting a tight tiny loop at the butt-end of that permanent ridgeline inside the hammock. Finally, on both I have a tiny prusik on the adjusting end attached to the ridgeline, (and nipped off the little cute things Dutch put on, which are too fiddly for my old gnarled fingers). These are absolutely fantastic for using as a headrest with my coat stuffed inside. Oh I think of the years I’ve spent wrestling my pillow and clothes bag out from underneath my rump (all while having a wet dog on top of me).
