No we have not done a video for this piece yet. Dutch has been a busy monkey lately…

Where can I see how to use this toggle?

  4. Question

    Evan Vinson (verified owner)

Is the toggle just something to hold the loop of the food bag as you pull it up then tie the rope to the tree?

Or will it slide down the rope under the weight of a food bag like that?

  5. Question

    Evan Vinson (verified owner)

Ok, I think I might of figured this out? Is the toggle supposed to be attached directly above the food bag? Then hoisted up with a line attached to the other eye hole with another long rope, then when at height used to pull the bag away from the tree floating in between two trees? Like the hoist line pulls it straight up, then you tie it off and use the toggle line to pull the food to the side away from everything, and then tie it off to a different tree that helps you accomplish that?

I feel like this is a riddle or a prize winning puzzle y’all are making us play since we have been waiting for so long for an answer.

5 out of 5 Useful product BUT

Does exactly what it says, and attaching it to the line is simple and pretty intuitive. One big limitation is this: you can only use it with 1.75mm or smaller line. Most dutchware will take accept slightly larger line, but not this. Wish that warning had been in the description, since I use a slightly larger line and am back to a cut down tent stake.

5 out of 5 Got it today, much better than a stick!

I mean, it’s crazy light, the bear bag and cordage with it are great, what more could you ask for?

For everyone still wondering how this magic works (HINT: it replaces the stick!)

5 out of 5 Great little item

    scott2 (verified owner)

This little thing is great for hanging the bear bag…especially when all of the sticks are a foot under snow. Pro tip #1: don’t try to use this while wearing gloves unless you want to hang the gloves too.
Pro tip #2: That little green reflective cord piece is great for those nights near Blue Mtn Shelter when you’re trying to hang your bear bag but your hands without gloves (see Pro Tip #1) are cold and you slip a bit…and then hear a “twang” as your bear bag toggle is launched like an arrow back over your head so you turn around quick and give thanks to above and to Dutch for thinking to put that cord there because it shines so brightly in your headlamp…ok, that may be a little specific, but you get the idea. Use that little loop around a finger (be sure to remove finger before releasing line) and whatever you do, don’t take that loop off. I love this thing.

5 out of 5 Must Have

    Rose Brown (verified owner)

I have used last month to try it out and I love this toggle. It is a must have item to add to the bear bag hanging kit. It’s easy to use and more durable and reliable than a stick.

  10. Question

    bansheekitty

Is there a video up yet? I found a Youtube video of Dutch hanging a bear bag by a different (and less secure) method. Is there a video where this toggle is used?
