Batchstovez Gram Weenie Pro
From: $17.92
The ever-popular Gram Weenie Pro was designed By George Carr formerly of (End 2 End Trail Supply). The GWP was designed to boil 16 oz. of water in the smallest, lightest, and most durable design possible. The GWP like the BS 1.0 and 2.0 is a two-piece design that utilizes a conical inside wall that adds vertical strength. The rim has a smooth rolled edge to seal the two together and provides horizontal strength. Although the two-piece design is more labor intensive it makes for a stronger more durable stove and will provide a lifetime of use.

I bought this stove on a lark because my brother has taken to calling me a gram weenie. I took it out last weekend on a two day hike with my brother and this stove out performed his cannister stove in cold weather. I’ve made several types of alcohol stove in the past but they always took forever to boil. Why didn’t I by this sooner.

There is a delay in production for these items right now. You can purchase Fiberglass Wick to make your own cold weather wrap if you’d like:

Question

I’m having trouble using this, and I wonder if it’s user error? In videos online, it only takes about 30 seconds to prime and start burning out the sides. However, it seems to take 2-3 minutes for me, and then not burn that long once it’s burning through the side holes with a put on top. I had to do that inside a closed space just to get it to work.
It is extremely finicky outside. Even with no perceived wind, it blows out repeatedly. It ends up taking a very long time to heat up the fuel until it’s able to push vapor out of the side holes. I tried using a structure around it as a windscreen, but the pot has to be completely covering the top hole or else the fuel burns out quickly and in an uncontrolled manner once it gets hot, and my wind screen option prevented the pot from sealing on top of the stove.
I’m using 91% rubbing alcohol as my fuel. Any ideas what I’m doing wrong? I love the design, the weight, it’s strong, and seems well made.
