    Great for tipi projects

    Legitomous (verified owner)

I was looking for a durable, light weight, waterproof fabric for a tipi project. My design was a 6 man tipi so stretch was a concern, and Xenon is very rigid. Sil Xenon fit the bill perfectly. It was tricky to work with at first due to the nature of the light weight and coated fabric, but once I got used to it it was good to work with. I discovered that it irons well at low temps making flat field seems a lot easier. The project finished out well, and after weighing in it came in at #11.2 with tipi, stakes, center pole, and stove. Tipi is #3.6. The fabric has had no poor reactions to heat especially at the cone where the stove jack is. I field tested it early spring at over 9000 ft with excellent results. Being spring it brought chilly nights, and non stop rain. Me and my boys were warm and dry and the tipi became base camp for our group since it is as huge tent. Without the tipi the trip would have been short lived since we had several youth with us who’s ability to weather rain and chill is limited. Xenon and other fabrics I got from Dutch met all my needs and expectations. Thanks Dutch for providing killer products and fabrics!

Both fabrics are 20 denier with a ripstop grid. Sil 1.1 has a higher waterproof rating and less stretch than Sil Nylon.

At this time we cannot guarantee that this fabric does not include DWR with PFCs. We are working on transistioning all of our fabric to PFC free DWR.

This fabric is not flame resistant at all. If an ember falls on it, it will melt.

We do not recommend using this fabric as it will bunch very badly however I would point you in the direction of the sil nylon which is what our hammock chair is made from.

Xenon is waterproof but not breathable. You’ll want to use Helion for waterproof breathable rain pants: https://dutchwaregear.com/product/helion-half-yard/

    Excellent Tarp Material

    mpevans007 (verified owner)

I used dark olive and made a standard hex tarp that weighs 381g, including double-ended stuff sack with tie downs and tie outs, bungies and D-rings. It’s a beautiful tarp.
