Description

Would you like to turn ANY 2 hammocks into a two-person hammock? The Birds Nest Bugnet does just that. This hammock completely encloses any 2 hammocks so you can both share a large bug free area. You will be under the same tarp and connected to the same trees in the same space. Each hammock can be accessed with zippers on both sides of the net. We’ve also added a waterproof fabric bottom (54″W x 56″L) to allow for gear storage or even keep your pet in the bug free zone with you. Please note: the design has been modified and no longer has cinches around the strap pass through points. We find the small holes provided work great without the need to add extra weight.

Up until now if you wanted to hammock camp with your spouse, your choices were very limited. This is a great option that allows two single hammocks to share the same space under the same net side by side. With the Beetle buckle suspension, 32 inch spreader bar and any two hammocks (sold separately) you will be able to do just that.

Includes: Birds Nest Bugnet and extra large double ended stuff sack

Great to keep your gear secure and bug free

I bought this so I could hang with my fiance from the same trees along with the beetle suspension and spreader bar. It’s a slight pain to get everythign setup but with the included double ended stuff sack which you keep both hammocks in it works out perfectly. My fiance loves it and I love the ground cloth on the bottom of the bugnet where we store all our gear with no worries about bugs or rain.

We are currently out of the bugnet to make the item and I do not have an ETA on when that will be back in. We are looking into making it with the heavier bugnetting however that just may be to bulky.

Does the job, but could be bigger

    Selinda Van Horn (verified owner)

This bugnet works great for side by side hanging and keeping the bugs out. I love that both hammocks can go inside so you can enjoy bug free hanging, but still play cards or whatever with your hanging buddy. The only thing is it seems to be a bit small. The zippers seem to rub rather hard on the hammock ridgeline and it’s a bit difficult to enter and exit because the zippers seem tight. I would recommend some more slack in it and it would be perfect.

  6. Question

    Matthew Browne

Is there any chance this could be custom made to be a little taller? I have a 65lb lab mix that does not like hammocks so she has to sleep on the ground. My wife and I currently use the beetle buckle suspension with the 32″ tandem bar. She has her own bugnet and I am currently using the Grand Trunk Mozzy 360 so my dog can sleep on the ground under my hammock (which by the way is terrible quality compared to my ducthware gear pieces). It’s heavy and bulky too. We would love it if we could sleep in the same bugnet with the dog. I’ve looked at the pup tent but my dog is needy and won’t sleep alone. I’m pretty set on the bird’s nest after reviewing my options, but it seems like it might be a little snug, and we’d have to hang our hammocks pretty low to accommodate the dog being inside it on the ground. Is it possible to have it custom made to set up the hammocks at a normal height and still have the argon floor sitting flat on the ground for the dog to lay on? And if so, could you give me a price for it? If you offered something like that, I’d buy it in a heartbeat.
Thanks so much! Love your gear!

This has completely changed our hammock camping!

    Erica Geyer (verified owner)

My husband and I love this bugnet — it has completely changed our hammock camping experience! It took a few setup times to get into a rhythm ( and we’re still probably a little slow), but being able to sleep side by side on the same two trees without pesky bugs is so great! Prior to this, we used two complete ENO setups (bugnet, hammock, and rain fly), which meant we had to have at least 3 trees (usually 4) and were quite a distance apart from each other. The bathtub floor great for smaller gear and especially for putting our shoes after we get in. The only “complaint” is that due to the bathtub floor, the zipper length is a little shorter than our ENO bugnet was and that makes it a little harder to enter the hammock without either sitting on the net or scraping my head on the top. But it’s a very minor problem given that this solves so many other problems! We have an XL ENO rain fly that works pretty well for the double hang, but we will probably consider your two person tarp at some point in the future so that the spreader bar doesn’t poke the tarp. Thanks for making hammock camping feel like a couples event again. 🙂

I could pack it into one of our double ended stuff sacks which measures 16×8, however we normally send it out in a stuff sack that is double that size.

    Great for flat ground only!

    Tracey Nickerson

I originally bought this in order to have my dog sleep underneath me when backpacking but the very first night of my trip we set up in the dark and the only two trees I could find were on the hill not only did my dog slide down the argon into the netting but I couldn’t step out of my hammock without almost killing myself . The design is great the quality is great as usual for Dutch but if you plan on putting your dog or gear for yourself on top of the argon do not set up on a hill. I will use this when I go to camp grounds but not for backpacking, stealth camping or any of those style applications .

I love this bug net design! Quick questions for you. Would this Birds Nest be compatible with two, ENO Doublenest hammocks and the ENO Fuse which uses two, 33 inch spreader bars- one at each end? Or is this bug net tapered on the foot end? Is it long enough? Thank you!

It will not work with two spreader bar poles as it tapers. You could use it if you only used the head end only.

  15. Question

Do both people need to enter and exit at the same time for this setup to be stable? Seems if one were to lie down solo, they would quickly be resting on the ground, same if one were to need to get up without disturbing the other.

Truly a Nest! Makes tandem hanging bug free.

I was highly impressed by the craftmanship and very thankful that Dutch is willing to accommodate this hammockers existing setup. This worked out perfectly for us. It is a little tedious to setup initially, but if you are bundling the hammocks together with the net, in the large provided stuff sack, future setups become easy. The solid floor is great for tossing bottles of water, gear, and maybe a pet or two. Make sure you get the height right so that the floor is actually resting on the ground when weighted.

There’s nothing like waking up next to your better half. Being nested in a single bugnet is so much better than our old individually netted rigs. Further, you can adjust underquilts from inside. Once you are in, it’s like a bug free palace. Another great and innovative product. Thanks DWG!

    • admin

If the bug net is suspended we do not recommend more than a few pounds of gear putting tension on it. If it touches the ground you should be fine to test this out with your dog as long as its not pulling or bearing any weight.

    Game changer for double hanging!

    Steven Smith (verified owner)

My partner and I enjoy a good double hang but don’t prefer integrated bug nets. The bird nest is a game changer due to the amount of open space inside. We were able to use our prior spreader bar/suspension setups with the bird nest flawlessly for an amazing nights sleep. Highly recommend for double hangs!
