Protected in wind and freezing rain

I used the tarp for the first time this weekend. We had gusts of 40+ mph during setup and throughout the night. I bought a snakeskin as well and setup was easy. The tarp rattled in the Windaus should be expected but all stakes and tie-outs stayed put. This morning I awoke to the sound of ice sliding right off the tarp.
Take down was easy as well since no ice accumulated and the snakeskin made packing up a breeze.
Between the weight, size and easy setup I don’t think there is anything that comes close on the market.

    Double hammock

    lepine.martin (verified owner)

I’ve used the wide winter for all of last year. I got the 12′ with double pole mod. Brought it canoe tripping for solo setups. Use it regularly for a double Dutch setup with the double pole mod. It packs nice and small. I have some concerns with the ridgeline stitching, as it seems to pull more than I feel comfortable. It could just be me that over tightens the ridgeline. I use stingerz with 12′ feet of ridgeline. I think I would probably be better with an extra 3 feet of ridgeline to accommodate the areas I camp in however. I also find that the internal ridgeline seems to loosen when touched. The line lock seems to do the job, I just twist the cordage around it or make a small knot to keep in place. All in all, I’m very happy with the tarp and plan to use it as my main tarp when I need coverage.

Tried mine out for the first time and the top ridge leaked. I ordered it with the side pull outs and I know I have to treat them (they did not leak), but I’m assuming I also need to treat the top. Can I use the SEAM GRIP + SIL SEALANT on it? I can’t find anything in the description about Xenon fabric. I LOVE this tarp and don’t want to ruin it by using the wrong product.

      Dave Gantz

Yes, Seam Grip + Sil Sealant will work on our Xenon fabrics. Your ridgeline shouldn’t need this, though it is okay to apply this sealant if you’d like. With the black grosgrain ridgeline facing the sky, your ridgeline should be waterproof. Please contact us at sales@dutchwaregear.com if you have any problems.

      Dave Gantz

The material is our Xenon Sil Wide: https://dutchwaregear.com/product/xenon-sil-wide/
The stuff sack is roughly 12.5″ tall, 4.5″ wide, and 3″ deep when filled. There is plenty of extra space in this sack for a ridgeline and tieouts.
You can add-on Side Panel Pullouts and use those to tie your doors back with rope.

The internal pole mod option is for the actual poles themselves and you will be able to select one or two poles.

Since the hammock will sag a bit while hanging, an 11 foot tarp is fine for an 11 foot hammock. We suggest a 12 foot hammock if you want to hang two hammock side by side, though.

You can stake them out or use tarp door hooks or mitten hooks to fasten them to the adjacent corner tie out.

If you purchase the pole mods there your tarp will automatically come with an internal ridgeline and that will be used to keep the poles up. Please see the video that is on the product page for further instructions.
