The description says it’s adjustable. Does that mean the Amsteel with Whoopie Hook actually have a Whoopie Sling?

Would this damage the tree if the back pack was heavy?

This should not damage the tree unless your pack is excessively heavy.

I’ve had the Big Carl for quite a while but was just recently able to give it a real solid test run, and it worked great! My pack was running about 36lbs and the hanger worked perfectly. It’s really easy to set up, just toss the string around the tree, hook in, and put you pack on your knee while you string it up. It sags just a little when you first hang it, maybe an inch or two, so that’s something to compensate for; but once that initial sag is done, the pack held steady the entire night, even with me going through it and stuffing stuff into it the next morning.
It’s a luxury item for sure, but it adds that extra bit of comfort that makes working in camp feel a lot more efficient. All the guys I went backpacking with were quite envious to say the least hahaha.

I bought one, my partner laughed at it, we went on a single hike… and now I have to buy another one because they stole mine.
The Big Carl rocks. Easily one of the best quality of life upgrades for hiking I’ve gotten in a while.

I use this to hang a gravity water filter system: Cnoc Vecto -> Sawyer Squeeze -> SP150 coupling -> Smartwater. Hook slips through the notch in the plastic slide on the Vecto.
