To the folks losing their clips…
Have you tried a wrap of tape around your tree hugger, underneath the clip? Seems like that could add enough thickness to the hugger to prevent a clip from accidentally slipping off.

These will not work with the two inch strap. I would recommend using a carabiner in this situation.

I like this product a lot. But the first time out with them one of the clips came off as I was packing up, and I spent 20 minutes combing the ground to find it. I wish there was a way to better secure these on my huggers. In hind sight for this reason I wish I had gotten the sewn on version.
I ordered an extra pair just to keep in my pack in case I drop one. Wondering if there is any hack I can apply to ensure they do not some off.

These clips are a great addition to a 1 inch webbing suspension strap system. They enable you to quickly connect the loop to the strap eliminating the need to thread the strap through the loop. Additionally to re position the webbing above or below a branch, the webbing need not be un threaded, re positioned and re threaded. Just un clip, move, re clip. They are small and light yet strong. Rounded edges are easy on your webbing. The design prevents the clip from falling off of the loop when not in use because the loop fits the clip snugly. Use as directed (see Dutch’s short video). I use mine just the way shown on the website with the opening facing down and the strap passing through the clip at a slight angle. Perfecto!

Purchased in November 2019 having ‘managed’ for years without Dutch Clips….I won’t dwell on how much time and hassle I’d have saved wrestling with tree straps but cumulatively it’s a lot! Now, I use my Dutch Clips all the time. I always check but I’m very confident they won’t accidentally come off my strap loops. Also really ease to use when wearing mid-weight gloves in cold weather.

Could a small hole be drilled into these (in the widest part, or elsewhere) just big enough to accommodate 3/32 cord? It would be nice to have the ability to attach these to the straps with something like a larks head knot so they aren’t easily lost, or even just having a bright colored cord would make it easier to find on the ground.

We do not suggest this. Instead, omit the Dutch Clip or go for a properly rated carabiner if you need to hold more than 300 pounds.

If the straps on my whoopie slings are a little short, so that the Dutch clip is on the Amsteel instead of on the webbing, as shown, will that be a problem? It is 1/8″ Amstel and I am 180 lbs.

No that should not be a problem at all. Just be sure the webbing/amsteel is coming as straight as possible off the tree to minimize the stress on your suspension.

The dutch clips arrive ahead of schedule. I was able to easily integrate them with my hammock rig. I now can easily use the dutch clips around a tree and then use a slipper sheet bend knot to tie off to the hammock.

You know how you sometimes want to adjust the height of your tree strap.
You know how you sometimes want to adjust the height of your tree strap. You have to unthread the whole strap because there is a branch which prevents you from simply sliding the tree strap up or down the trunk. This solves that problem and makes the installation of the tree straps easy.

I was surprised when I opened the package to discover a titanium Dutch Clip, or the Dutch Clip | ti.
Dutch sent me an email about a new product he was working on. I was surprised when I opened the package to discover a titanium Dutch Clip, or the Dutch Clip | ti. The design is, of course, updated—sleek and refined. At first, I wasn’t sure how to use them. The size and form is so much different than the original, aluminum Dutch Clip. The form is much more in line with a mini carabiner without a gate or mechanism. This new, rounded shape lends itself better, in my opinion, to the webbing straps, but allowing the material to bend around the metal without potential abraision.
The weight for the pair of clips is only 16 grams.
I took them backpacking and I can say I’m already converted. As I mentioned, the inner curve works nicely with the webbing strap and the clip made it very easy to attach around the tree.

I have a Hammockbliss sky bed bug free hammock. It is an asymmetrical hammock similar to Hennessy. Can the Dutch clips be used with this hammock? I am asking because the description refers to a 30 degree hang requirement and there is a yes no question regarding Hennessy.

It is fine to use with your Hammock Bliss. Hennessy does not give a very good explanation about the 30 degree angle and because of that people stretch it really tight which puts a lot of force on the suspension. The reason there is a Hennessy question is some Hennessy’s require a different size whoopie sling or continuous loop for the connection.

Dutch Clips
I have used these on all my hammocks and love them. So when my daughter got her a hammock and asked me to help her get it ready to hang one of the first items I thought of was the Dutch Clips. They are strong and make hanging my hammock fast. I wouldn’t use tree straps or huggers without them. This is a product I have and would recommended.
