Question
ibmarc66 –
How do the uhmwpe straps hold up in a double rap ring suspension setup.
Nice wide round radius, but there’s a squashing force.

Carolyn –
That will not work as it will slip with that webbing.

Question
justinisberg13 –
Would these or the spider web 1.5 make a better hammock suspension with the becket hitch? I’m looking for something that will not soak up water, hold a 200 lb man and withstand the elements.

Question
Rich Bargerhuff –
Under UHMWPE Straps and Huggers and the selection “TYPE”, hugger is said to have a loop on only one end, and strap is said to have loops on both ends. Believe that is the opposite of what it should say.

DutchWare Gear –
Yes, you are correct and this was adjusted in our system. Thank you!

I bought the straps, whoopie sling and dutch carabiner a week ago and thanks to super fast shipping was able to test it this last weekend. It worked like a charm, saved quite a bit on weight and was easier to set up than the system that came with my hammock. Great product, already recommended it to two of my friends to buy! Absolutely worth it!

Question

I want to amend my previous question…
For straps w/o attachments, is this the lightest per gram per foot? If not, can you provide a list of which straps you sell that are the lightest?

DutchWare Gear –
No, the spider web 2.0 and 1.5 will be lighter than the UHMWPE webbing.

Question
tysonrapier –
In response to one of the comments below, you stated this webbing does not react well to metal hardware…Does this include sewn in Dutch clips? Also, would you advise the same for Spider Web 2.0, considering they are both UHMWPE straps?

DutchWare Gear –
You would be able to use the dutch clips with the webbing. It is specifically any kind of metal buckle that you would not be able to use with the webbing that will slip if it is a point of supporting your weight.

Question
mattjt123 –
Will this strap work with the spider attachment system to whoopie slings, also does this strap absorb much water compared to your other options, Thanks!

DutchWare Gear –
It is water resistant and will fair well in the elements. These strap do not work well with metal hardware. I would recommend using a marlin spike hitch with a toggle instead.

Question
John Mury –
I know this isn’t supposed to work with buckles, but will it work with spiders? It seems like the amsteel loop could create a lot of direct pressure on the strap.
If not spiders, then what? A becket hitch? Marlin spike? What are the options? Thank you!

Carolyn Palmer –
No I would not recommend the spider with this webbing. Yes using the marlin spike hitch or the becket hitch would be good or to possibly larks head it.

Question
Thomas JACOB –
I currently use the 1.5 spider web straps, and they work definetly fine. There is just 1 thing I blame it for: they tend to keep wrinkled when used for a hitch or when used through the dutch clips… I need to make them nice and flat again after each use. It can be a problem as I want the flattest band to prevent any tree bark breaking.
Do the UHMWPE will do the same, or will the wrinkles disappear like a heavier nylon strap?

Carolyn –
It will not be as drastic with the UHMWPE and they are more dense so it will act like the 1.5.
