Description
Ready to experience hammock camping like never before? The Hellbender is our brand new, streamlined hammock designed for ultimate comfort and minimal weight, getting you out on the trail faster and sleeping sounder.
Experience a Flatter, More Comfortable Lay:
- Asymmetrical Design: The Hellbender features an intelligent asymmetrical cut. This creates a natural footbox and headbox when you lie diagonally, resulting in a significantly flatter and more comfortable sleeping position compared to traditional symmetrical hammocks.
Integrated Warmth, Effortless Setup:
- Quilted with Attached Underquilt: We’ve taken comfort and convenience to the next level. The Hellbender boasts a built-in underquilt, directly quilted to the hammock body. This innovative design eliminates frustrating air gaps and cold spots, ensuring consistent warmth throughout the night. Forget fiddling with separate underquilt adjustments – just hang and relax!
Seriously Lightweight:
- Weight-Optimized Design: We’ve stripped away unnecessary bulk to bring you a substantially lighter hammock compared to our popular Quilted Chameleon. Every ounce counts on the trail, and the Hellbender delivers significant weight savings without sacrificing essential comfort.
Customize Your View and Protection:
- Spreader Bar Moonlight Top Cover: Perfect for colder weather but also allows plenty of ventilation with the removable Moonlight panel.
- Spreader Bar Bugnet: Provides excellent insect protection and includes spreader bars to enhance internal space.
The Bottom Line:
The asymmetrical, quilted Hellbender hammock is engineered to simplify your hammock setup while drastically reducing weight. Experience a flatter, warmer, and more comfortable night’s sleep on your next adventure.
Key Features:
- Asymmetrical shape for a flatter lay with dedicated footbox and headbox.
- Integrated underquilt eliminates cold spots and setup hassle.
- Significantly lighter than the Quilted Chameleon.
- Available with a Spreader Bar Moonlight Top Cover or a Spreader Bar Bugnet.
- Hammock is simplified for ease of use and to cut weight. This is not a modular hammock and Chameleon accessories will not fit the Hellbender.
Specs:
- Length – 11ft
- Width – 56 inches. However, the asymmetrical cut makes it feel much wider and allows it to work with taller people.
- Weight limit – 350 pounds

Question
Marcus Imes –

Question
Craig Joly –
How small does this compress? I’m not concerned about the weight savings. My full setup, including Chameleon, Chameleon quilt, bug-net and sleeping quilt fit in a standard Anaconda. Barely. That takes up nearly my full backpack. Can we get a picture comparing of a Hellbender with bug-net, next to a Chameleon with quilt and bug-net, both compressed in a standard Anaconda.

I bought the 20° hellbender after previously purchasing the halfzip. I found the halfzip really comfy so decided to stick with Dutchware for my fall setup and I’m so glad I did. I set it up, tossed a pillow inside and tried it out, I was asleep in a couple minutes and woke up an hour later knowing I made a great investment. It is really wide so you kinda just fall into the sweet spot. This is my 5th hammock and it lays the flattest of them all.

Can you order those with quilt hooks? I’m just wondering if I could get 40 and then add an additional under quilt in colder weather

We can’t add quilt hooks to this hammock. But you don’t need quilt hooks. You can hang your underquilt from the end of the hammock and it’ll work just fine.

I just got back from taking the Hellbender out on trail and I couldn’t be happier with it! I used the bag that the hammock came with rather than the Anaconda for this trip. Set up was super easy and I was cozy all night long. Thanks Dutch for another great product!

Question
Josh Grove –
Is Head Right / Foot Left the same as Left Lay? I get so confused by all the terminiology as it is a matter of perspective which way are you looking at the hammock to determine left or right.
If I lay with my head on the zipper side of the hammock and if you are looking at the hammock from the front or zipper side my head is on the right side of the hammock on the zipper side and feet are to the left on the non zipper side. That would be a Left lay I believe but what would this equate to in the Head Right/Feet Left or Head Left / Feet Right orientation used when ordering
Upvote if this was helpful (0) Downvote if this was not helpful (0) Watch Unwatch Flag for removal
Alex Thomas –
Best way to determine this is lay in the hammock. Is your head on the left or right side of the hammock as you’re laying there?
