Whoopie Slings are one of the most adjustable and lightest way to suspend your hammock.Ā They have a bead spliced on the adjustable loop so it can’t be pulled into itself. Ā 7/64 Amsteel has a breaking strength of 1,500 pounds, while the 1/8 Amsteel is much higher.
You can pull the rope through easily, allowing you to make the rope bigger and smaller with little effort. The sling locks in place yet remains easy to adjust.Ā You can also put split rings, wire ties or other things on the sling to maintain the same purpose as the bead, preventing the loop from disappearing into the bury.

I love these things.
I love these things. The first thing I did after attaching them to my hammock was to throw up some webbing with a MSH using sticks from my yard and tested them out. I may have landed on my butt but it wasn’t the woopie slings. Reattached them and found that sweet spot. I think I’ll order some more for my wife’s hammock.

Most of the time you will be fine with the 7/64 that has a breaking strength of 1500lbs. If you question this at all you will then go with the 1/8.

Currently using a chameleon with beetle buckles and 8ft dyneema/poly straps. Looking to extend out the suspension for more versatility. Can i replace my continuous loops with whoopie slings to give me additional suspension length and still connect them to the beetle buckle suspension. Is this a better option then purchasing 15 ft dyneema/poly straps which weigh a few oz more?

Wouldn’t go anywhere elseWas hiking the AT in 2012 when I met Dutch’s crew at Trail Days in Damascus. I had just bought a hammock, and took it to their booth to hook me up. These whoopies larksheaded to my tree-huggers, whoopie hooks in the adjustable loop, and a pair continuous loops on the gathered ends of the hammock and got back on the trail with a sweet, easily adjustable system.
So, when I got a new hammock, I came back for the same rig. This time with the new Dyneema 2.0 huggers. Could not be happier with the design, workmanship, and speed of getting all this beautiful bling into my hands. Thanks to Dutch, and all involved!

The one minor issue is that the Amsteel leaves dye stains on my yellow kevlar tree straps, but I’m not too worried about it.
