I have had trouble finding a sleeve to fit my Sierra Madre Nube’ tarp and bugnet combo. This fit it perfectly. Makes the ease of sitting up my tarp so much easier. And its ultralight. Dutchware makes some great gear!

Will the 12′ 6″ continuous tarp sleeve be too big (bunchy) for my 11 foot Warbonnet Superfly?

It should work just fine.

In case your on the fence about it, I have two of these now and the quality is excellent. For the weight, and cost its worth having IMO. Makes everything about wrangling the tarp (even a small one) so easy.

Fits my UGQ Winterdream 12 great. The only issue I have is there should be a mitten hook on the small end to hook to the ridgeline tie out loop of the tarp. Without someway to connect it the tarp sleeve just pulls part way down the tarp.

got the continuous sleeve, um how do you use it, there is a loop at the end where there is a pocket. Not sure how to use the sleeve. I placed my ridgeline in the pocket but not idea what the loop is for.

I got the walk-through closeout package with hammock, no-seeum net, and tarp. The 2 6′ sleeves were very easy to encase the hammock and netting, and make it easy to roll up the whole package to put into a single package. So when I am ready to use it, pull it out of the bag and stretch out the tree straps, then roll each sleeve from the center to the outer edge. The hammock is hung, with the no-seeum netting. There is a pocket on each sleeve end to store cordage or other items you want to always have with the hammock.

Question
johnathanconaway (verified owner) –
On the “2 – 6′ Tarp Sleeve Halves” does the center not have a cinch cord? I bought one and have used it enough to believe no one can easily and quickly roll up or use a stuff sack without the tarp coming out in the middle. Am I just doing something wrong or are these just simply not made for 12ft tarps?

Customer Service (verified owner) –
Greetings. They do indeed fit a 12-foot tarp. The way I roll up my sleeved tarp is by first folding it in half at the middle point. From there I roll it into a spiral, this keeps it from separating in the middle, and allows me to keep an inch or so of each end outside of the tarp sleeve so that my lines and hardware are readily available for a quick set up. If you need further assistance or have further concerns, please feel free to reach out to us at [email protected]

I like the mesh sleeve not only for the weight but for when putting the tarp up wet/damp. I prefer the full length version and I currently have one on a 11 ft Journey with doors. Everything slides right in tucking easily away and helps to dry. Good quality product. Very pleased.

If you just push the sleeve all the way through, the other side comes out like the attached photo, which makes it less convenient. It would be better if there was something to fix like a hook.

Would it be possible to get one made with argon 90 or similar fabric? To protect the tarp from mud and the ground a little bit more when I inevitably drop/drag it?

Question
Clifton Ivey –
Other than style or personal preference, why would I choose a continuous sleeve or a two part sleeve?

Carolyn (verified owner) –
Some people like the continuous sleeve the way it goes all the way across and some like only dealing with half the tarp at a time. It is completely personal preference.

The world is a dark place without these snakeskins. When I finally had the money to buy some Dutchware gear, these were on the top of my list. I got the 2, 6′ sleeves. So happy I got these. Makes pitching my tarp and centering it over my hammock the easiest thing in the world. No more tarp flapping in the wind. No more guesswork centering my tarp. I dont know how I survived without these. And the pockets at the ends are perfect for storing my zing-it and wasps. I will never go without these in my life ever again. Thanks Dutch!

tboned (verified owner) –
This product is a great one as long as your tarp is short enough. I have $1000s in Dutchware so I’m a fan overall. This got the lower stars because they did not fulfill expectation. I ordered the 2x 6’ as the option to manage half your tarp at a time is great. I have the wide winter and 2 person tarp (12’ ridge line). The 2 sleeves measured out at 64” which leaves no overlap and an annoying 2’ of tarp in the middle that becomes unruly (somewhat defeating the purpose).
Recommend Dutch to make finished length to 78” each half to give ~6”overlap.
Cheers

The sleeve is 12’6″ long. It may be a tight squeeze for your tarp. You can try it out; if it doesn’t work you can ship it back to us for a refund.

I have about 3-4 of these on all my tarps. I have full length sleeves for my 12 ft tarps. I use the split sleeve for my Amok tarp since it’s only about 6-7 ft wide. I tried using a full sleeve for it and it was much too floppy. But when you only use one half it’s perfect! I just sewed the wider end a little narrower so the tarp didn’t slide out on it’s own.

The Tarp Sleeve makes setting up and packing up soooo much easier! Trying to get a tarp back into its stuff sack is always like juggling spaghetti or herding cats (pick your simile), but the sleeve makes the spaghetti like it’s been sitting in the bowl for a couple of hours or the cats are sedated. It’s also great for keeping the tarp out of the way to enjoy the view of the sky through the tree tops, and helps with rapid deployment when you feel those first drops of rain – it’s generally the 3rd or 4th drop that registers in my brain and reminds me I have very limited time to wake up or suffer the soggy consequences. I set it up to get the stake placement, then slide the snakeskin back on it. I usually put large rocks or branches on the stakes so I don’t trip over them when the tarp isn’t connected. This tarp sleeve really makes a great set up that much better. It’s the perfect addition!
