Titanium Dutch Hook (Single)

(29 customer reviews)

$4.00

The Dutch Hook is to the continuous ridge line what the Dutch Clip is to webbing suspension. Made of titanium this little mighty hook will hold up to the strongest winds and only weighs 0.4 grams. It ties or splices to the end of your 1.75mm tarp line and you just simply reach around the tree and hook the line. A Tarp Flyz in the other side completes the ridgeline. You can also put the Dutch Hook onto Prusiks, and you have a quick release to detach your tarp from your ridgeline.

very nice, but I had one break on me (out of 3 in use) I use these for the beginning of my tarp’s “zing it” ridgeline, and for the tie out lines on each corner, along with one of the titanium “fleaz” at the end to seal the deal. The whole set up has worked flawlessly for almost a year of 4 season camping, untill a crazy storm that up-rooted dozens of trees in the area snapped one of my dutch hooks at the bend of the hook. The “fleaz” held up perfectly, and the 2 on the corners of my tarp are still fine, but the one that failed dropped my tarp to the ground. I guess it says a lot for the durrability of the tarp and the doubled-up tent stakes on the corners, but a strong enough wind will snap one of these hooks. I may buy another, or maybe opt for a more heavy duty option to avoid such catastrophic failure.
It’s still a good product, just not invicible. Also, as others have said, it does seem to just barely fit over the smallest amsteel or zing it ropes. I doubt they will work with any other type of roping material. Just a warning to potential buyers. A friend of mine had to buy a new ridge line after he went for the ultralight hooks.

The best! Really must use with Zing it which you won’t find any where so just get it here! Ships incredibly fast and these make set up a breeze! With Dutchware you can create so many custom setups it unreal. I think this hook is a great starting point to use in conjunction with stingers, wasps, flyz etc.

    Tiny but powerful

    jaybugle888 (verified owner)

These hooks are oh so tiny but they are very powerful! I use them on lash-it for my tarp suspension. I feel the tarp would tear, or the lash it would break before this hook would bend or break. a dime could probably hide 3-4 of these. I have noticed they do not get snagged inside my tarp sleeve.

    Clip snapped

    zakolo46 (verified owner)

During my thru-hike I used this clip to suspend my tarp. One time, when setting it up, it snapped, and I lost the hook part.
Before it snapped, it was a very small, lightweight, and convenient way to hang my tarp. Now that I’m home, I’ll be replacing it with a second wasp, and ditching the continuous ridge line. For the record, zing-it is stronger than titanium

Feels like a custom fit for the 1.75mm Zingit.

After watching nearly every backpacking video on YouTube, it quickly became clear to us that we needed Dutch hooks as part of our set up to achieve the lightest, quickest, strongest, and not to forget easiest set up for our tarps and bug nets. We looked at what the “pros” were doing and followed their lead.

Next, we watched YouTube videos on how to splice it onto 1.75mm yellow Zingit (Dyneema, also sold by Dutch). It was a fun wintertime project and we were able to customize it however we chose. We spliced the Dutch hook to one end of our continuous ridge line. Then added a Dutch Wasp before burying the other end of the Zingit for a finished look and to prevent fraying. Lastly, adding two Prusik loops to easily adjust and attach the tarp.

So back to the actual Dutch hook itself, its very small and light weight and provides a nice tight fit for the 1.75mm Zingit. We can actually feel and hear it snap into place, like a custom fit. It provides a tight and clean looking hold that won’t fail.

These clips weigh next to nothing and open up a lot of options for rigging your Hammock, either the body or the tarp

These clips weigh next to nothing and open up a lot of options for rigging your Hammock, either the body or the tarp. I have one minor complaint that is more a suggestion. These will apparently only work on rope of a diameter less than the Amsteel I am using. I think maybe ZingIt? I have no experience here so it is hard to say. Offering more sizes would be welcome. Would definitely buy again!

They also provide a great way to anchor to a tree for my tarp along with the suggested prussic on the ridgeline. Great stuff. Using these to the tree, no knots at all. The loose end goes straight to the fleaz. Extremely light, extremely simple, and extremely fast. Also saved me roughly 3 oz of line using this set up, and has held up in a pretty nasty cold weather wind storm in Northern Michigan early Spring.
