Double Hammock Whoopie Hooks (Pair)

These are like the whoopie hooks that have been used for years with one twist. They have an extra hole to receive a spreader bar.  This way you can turn two single hammocks into a double hammock, yet they are totally functional when used apart.  This saves you the trouble of switching out your suspension between trips.

Description

These are like the whoopie hooks that have been used for years with one twist. They have an extra hole to receive a spreader bar.  This way you can turn two single hammocks into a double hammock, yet they are totally functional when used apart.  This saves you the trouble of switching out your suspension between trips.  They receive a standard spreader bar at the head end keeping the hammockers apart yet together and under the same tarp.  You can hang from the same two trees and feel close to the one who smells better than you.  I recommend they are used on the head end, and you use a 32-inch spreader bar.  You will have to hang the hammock slightly higher than usual.  When one person gets out the other will drop a bit.  Also, you will feel the other person move around but not too much because each hammock has its own suspension.

We don’t typically suggest that, but it should work.

  3. Question

    cahenkel23

Could these be used for bridge hammock ends?
The hook end would feed through the looped strapping on the hammock, the spreader bar would go in the middle hole, then the dog bone would connect to the outer hole

I’m looking for a spreader bar mechanism for my bridge that isn’t permanently affixed to the hammock. Maybe a Dutch Biner that has a hole for a spreader bar?

These aren’t designed for that purpose, so we can’t suggest that you try this. If you do; though, let us know how it works for you!

Great product to have them on two as a hammock I currently use.
Use a spreader bar or if just run some line thru for rain brake drip line…
If you dont ever need the spreader bar …. You can run a loop for the second hole to hang gear from… of do need the bar just make the loop removable.

No it will not be. I would say the largest that you could fit through there would be 4.5mm and that will be a little bit of a tight fit.

What is the maximum weight these can hold? How does it compare to the bettle buckle?

Also, how easy is it to remove the rope from the hook after putting weight on it?

You would use one or the other but not both at the same time. They are two completely different types of suspension

No, the speed hook degraded the amsteel to the point it was unsafe. So I pulled them from the market.

One of my favorite dutch blings

Just got back from the Red River Gorge and did a 3 night trip with the girlfriend. Used to have to find the perfect 3 trees to set up next to each other and had to do strange things to the tarps to make them work. Well…not anymore. 2 people, off the same set of trees. Perfect.

Hooks add very little weight to load out, spreader bar the you can get with these hooks are very manageable. I did trim my poles down to 33″ total length and that helps take some of the see-saw effect out of using them. I also recommend using trees a little further then what you’re used to. I found that about 15′ works great for us, and keep your foot side close to the tree and more slack on the head. That also helps from your significant other from feeling you get up to empty your bladder 6 times a night.

Would recommend any couple get these bad boys and get out there to use ‘um. Save the weight of 2 tarps with a pole and get busy.

Thanks Dutch and crew for an other awesome addition to my backpacking collection.

    Great Product for Couples

I’ve used these pretty much since they came out and these hooks have worked great to hang two hammocks side by side. We carry one half pole each and one of us carries the big tarp and another a smaller one. For the minimal additional weight (the poles + the difference of the large tarp vs. a smaller one) we have the flex flexibility of hanging together, separate, or just setting up the extra tarp to give us additional shelter.
