no sharp edgesI have made a couple of these pots with a soup can top but the finish with the aluminum is smooth and NO SHARP EDGES. The lid fits just snugly enough that it isn’t bouncing around everywhere. I have no issues whilst on my fancee feest stove. In fact the only weak link I can tell is the fosters can itself. As a note, be careful with the fiberglass wick as particles can and will shed off a bit. As a cure for this, I took some rattle can dip-it rubber coating and with a couple quick coats, the pot is much more rigid and the fiberglass has stopped shedding.

Thanks Dutch and Batchstoves, I will be purchasing another in short order.

    Ultralight Minimalist Mist Have

First off, if you are into MYOG then this kit is very expensive compared to making a similar kit of your own ($5 or so). With that said, for me it was worth every penny. The ring and lid are professionally made and are seamless.

To start off the review, I just want to say that I’ve been through so many different pots and cook setups including titanium pots, aluminum pots, alcohol stoves, esbit stoves, canister stoves, and systems from all kinds of manufacturers. The setup I always come back to and is my all time favorite is the simple caldera cone and fosters pot system. I bought this to go with my Trail Designs Caldera Keg GVP system. The ring install was super easy and is held in place by friction. I haven’t had any issues of it moving on me. The ring and lid greatly increase the effectiveness of actually cooking in a fosters pot vs just boiling water. It pretty much makes the can into a standard cook pot. For my purpose it allowed the mouth of the pot to extend to the full width of the can. I ended up throwing away the fiberglass cord and didn’t use the blue silicon ring because the way the Trail Designs fosters pot is designed. The ring itself weighs 9g, and the lid weighs 13g. If you are a fan of the fosters pot system and want to make your minimalist kit the most effective it can be, this is the modification kit to get. I can’t recommend it enough. My kit includes the modified fosters pot using this kit, a reflectix cozy, Caldera Cone windscreen/pot stand, spoon, lighter, and an esbit stove that can simmer. The whole kit weighs less than 4oz and allows me to cook just about anything. Five stars all day.
