    Comfy & Light as Inflatable

Just bought this kit a few weeks ago and sewed it up for a weeklong backpacking trip through the Gems in the Grand Canyon. I have to say, this pillow was worth its weight in gold! Weighs virtually nothing, stuffs in anywhere, and gives me just the right head angle for a great nights sleep, especially when put on top of my accusations first sit pad. Main reason I initially bought it was so I could have something to use in the airplane as well, and it was perfect for that too.

The fabric is a bit slick to sew, so I recommend hand sewing a few corners instead of messing with pins, and then stitching it through before inverting the pillow and adding the insulation and stitching up the top center..

Unfortunately I left my last pillow in the airplane on a flight back home because I was so rushed to make a transfer, so I’m buying kit #2. As with all the gear I get from Dutch, this pillow is a permanent addition to my pack. No more folding up a puffy jacket I may or may not need to wear, this is coming with me from here on out, whether I’m on the ground or in my hammock.

ARGON 67 is 10 denier and ARGON 90 is 20 denier which is a fancy way of saying 67 is lighter and 90 is stronger. The numbers represent the ounces per square yard. 67 is .67 ounces per sq Yard and 90 is .9 ounces per square yard.

    Question

Are there plans available on how to make the pillow? Or at least a picture of a completed pillow that I can copy?

I’m sorry, we do not have any instructions at the moment but you can check out our completed pillow for pictures of how it should look. https://dutchwaregear.com/product/argon-pillow/

    Perfect little pillow...

Great, easy to assemble kit, for a perfect camp/travel pillow.
I chose the Hexon 1.0 fabric, which was a bit of a challenge to sew, because it is “slippery”. But, with a few straight pins, I completed a somewhat “professional” project.
I folded the fabric inside out on the long edge, then hemmed one short edge, and the other long edge. After turning the fabric right side out, I folded the Apex fill to slip neatly into the sleeve, and hemmed the final short edge.
Finally, I folded and hemmed the grosgrain along the last short edge to cover the exposed seam. Since the grosgrain was longer than needed, I made a loop with the remaining length for pillow retention in my hammock, or hanging out to dry.
All in all this was a fun, easy, and satisfying DIY project!

    First project

    clsr8407 (verified owner)

Got this kit as a first project both to see the argon 90 fabric that I want to use on a top quilt and to practice on before making the quilt. Fairly simple and straight forward. Need to order two more as my kids each want one now as well. Fast shipping, fair price and it comes with a sticker.

    Easy kit for pillow

I don’t have the best sewing skills but was able to put together 3 of these kits in under 2 hours. I used a single layer of the insulation sewn to the fabric and cut the rest into small strips to stuff it with.

    Perfect hammock pillow

    timmy.n.chapman (verified owner)

Received my pillow kit today . Sewed it up by hand. Came out great. It’s just the right size for a hammock. It is very comfortable and a perfect perfect project. Took about a half a day to sew up.
