    Perfect Ultralight Bowl!

    andrew.m.pearson (verified owner)

Great ultralight option for a bowl! It stands up by itself, has plenty of volume for the largest dehydrated/freeze-dried meals, and the base it designed such that you can hold it in one hand without burning yourself! Plus it folds flat when you’re not using it and seems to be very durable as well. Thanks Dutchware!

    They work

    scott2 (verified owner)

I like things that work…in pretty much any weather and all conditions, these simple bowl bags work. Much easier to cram into a bear bag when empty than a pot (I just use the pot to boil water now and don’t worry about bear bagging it). Can be used to make hot meals or cold soak or even body heat a meal (or heat a body with a meal on really cold days). Completed all 1108.2 miles of the Florida Trail using just 1, and while I will admit that all of my food and a tumeric tinge from about half way through the hike till the end the Bowl Bag and cozy never failed.

How does the seam hold up? Would this work to cold soak food for a few hours and not spill in my backpack? If so that would be awesome.

I don’t like the weird taste freezer bags give the food I prepare when rehydrating. I have a sensitive tongue, I guess. Does this bag give the food a taste?

It is comparable to a storage quart size freezer bag, maybe a little smaller.

PERFECT FOR HOMEMADE MEALS ON THE TRAILUsed these on a section hike for a quick breakfast of oatmeal and freeze-dried strawberries. The bowls worked great and the meals rehydrated without any issues. Can’t wait to try using these bowls for other homemade meals.

THEY WORK WELL!What can I say, they work as they should. I bought this to use as my bowl. I cooked my freeze dried meals in the freezer backs I stored them in and put them in this so it wouldn’t tip over accidentally. Saved myself from having to carry an awkwardly shaped bowl (I hate bowls) that never fits with the rest of my gear. Heavyweight enough that its more than one time use, but lightweight enough that you barely notice it. A perfectly elegant solution.

    Works great!

I used this product for the first time last week on a kayak camping trip. I poured boiling water into the bag with instant grits. The flat bottom allowed it to self stand and the lack of shard corners made stirring easy.
    Another excellent innovation by Dutch.

Used for a quick breakfast of oatmeal and freeze dried strawberries so far. They are a great way to pack your own meals and be able to put boiling water in them to let the meal rehydrate.

Great for DIY dehydrated meals, but can retain some flavors

    cvkealey (verified owner)

I got some of these for my DIY dehydrated meals and overall they’ve worked great. So far, I’ve made Skurka’s beans & rice, ramen, oatmeal and my own recipes for unstuffed peppers and gumbo. The bags I’ve used for anything with bell peppers have retained the aroma and a slight taste of that ingredient. Oatmeal with a slight hint of bell pepper isn’t the best way to start your day. So, I just designate some bags for “savory” meals and others specifically for oatmeal (or other breakfasts, like grits/polenta or farina).

After a dozen or so uses, they’re still holding up well and still seal perfectly. I will admit it’s sometimes a little difficult (especially with cold/numb fingers) to get them to seal properly, but once you do, they don’t leak.
