The Anaconda is a combination hammock/quilt sleeve and compression sack all in one. With this product, you will no longer need to separate your underquilt and topquilt from your hammock when tearing down and setting up. Use the built-in compression sack to minimize the space in your pack.
Description
The Anaconda is a continuous hammock and quilt sleeve which is made from Cloud 71 for inner storage sleeve and Dyneema® for outer compression sack for an easy way to store and deploy your hammock, underquilt and topquilt together while you’re out on the trail. The Anaconda is offered in one length and two widths – Standard and Large. The Anaconda includes pockets to conveniently store your line and hardware used to string up your tarp and even a set of suspensions. The Anaconda was designed in collaboration with Chris Gerken (Brain Child) and John Rammel of Trailheadz. The standard size just barely fits a Chameleon setup with bugnet and side-sling, a 20-degree zip-on Chameleon under-quilt, my EE Revelation quilt (900-loft down – pretty sure it’s 20degree), a Sea2Summit Reactor liner and an Argon pillow. It’s tight, and takes a bit of effort to get the sleeved system into the bag, but it fits. Makes setup and take down so easy. I was setup while the rest of the family was still figuring out how to get the tent out of the bag. My only complaint is the weak buckle. It is too small and weak to compress the bag. Any tension and it pops out. You can use the two non-buckles to cinch it down, then kind-of pick up the slack on the buckle, but it’s one thing you should not have to think about.

Hey, I just tested this out. I used a Chameleon, a 20-degree Loco Libre under quilt and the bird’s nest – all of these items fit nicely into the Cloud Sleeve and just about filled the Compression Sack with little squish left for compression. I do not think a full sleeping bag will also fit. a 40-degree top-quilt might fit and that would be the absolute max.

I do love this idea. It’s such an amazing convenience when setting up (and taking down) a hammock set. I bought the Large Anaconda to fit my single layer Chameleon with Side Sling, Side Car, Winter Top and Zip-On 0F Underquilt. I use this set up with my 0F EE Revelation Top Quilt. The only problem is my EE 0F Top Quilt won’t fit in the Large Anaconda with my Chamelon Zip-On 0F Underquilt. In fact, the Chameleon and Zip-On 0F Underquilt just barely fit in the Large Anaconda by itself. There needs to be an XL Anaconda option to fit for 0F top quilt AND 0F under quilt set. Otherwise it’s a very well thought out product and would definitely use it for my 20F set up. I will be looking forward to the XL size to become available for my 0F set up.

I’ve only done limited field testing, but all signs point to greatness. I’ve got a week in the bwca coming and will edit this if I find any catastrophic issues.. but everything seems awesome. My set up time is down to like..1 or 2 minutes? Gear sling + anaconda bag + zip on UQ.. unbeatable!

Well made, lightweight, easy to use. I love the convenience keeping my under quilt attached and top quilt inside when packing. Use the large size for lofted UQ and TQ. I fit my 30° UQ and 40° TQ inside and had just enough room to easily stuff the compression sack. Highly recommend.

This is a great product. I’ve trialed it on my WB Blackbird XL with a 0f top an bommom quilt (my bulkiest set up). It all fits, just that’s the only thing stopping a full five stars. The bulk of 0deg I sulation make closing the stuff sack difficult and I feel stresses the compression straps a little too much. Works a dream on my summer / 3 season quilts.

Dutch, you should totally market to the disabled campers out there – here’s my story: There are a dozen excellent reasons why someone would love this thing – here’s mine. I have several disabilities, but the big one here is hand strength and dexterity. Consider how many steps you take to set up your hammock, your tarp, your UQ and your UQP – that’s a lot of fiddly and/or strength use of your hands, right? For someone like me, that makes setting up camp frustrating and exhausting. The ability to go: 1) connect tree strap; 2) woooosh hammock, under quilt, and UQP in one swoop; 3) connect second tree strap!! – and have my hammock entirely constructed without any fine motor control use of my hands? THAT IS PURE GOLD, PEOPLE. Think of all the older hammockers who have arthritis in their hands or old shoulder injuries or who simply arrive at camp ready to drop (no matter how much they’ve loved the hike 🙂 ) – the Anaconda can improve their backpacking experience *tremendously*.

My hammock setup includes a Dream Hammock Darian, an Enlightened Equipment Revolt 20 degree under quilt, an Enlightened Equipment Enigma 0 degree top quilt for winter and an Enlightened Equipment Revelation 30 degree for summer. I bought the Anaconda knowing that it might be a tight fit for the winter setup. However, I did manage to get it all stuffed in the Anaconda. It was tough, but I made it. The summer setup was only slightly easier. Some thoughts and issues with the Anaconda. I wish the large was about 3 – 6 inches taller. That would help greatly with the bulkier winter gear. One downside is the straps. They did not hold when the sack was compressed real tight. Extreme compressed caused the straps to slip. I was able to get them to hold by tying a Becket Hitch (I think) behind the buckle while using my weight to keep the bag compressed. Overall, a great system. I am looking forward to using it on the trail. I’ll still give it 5 stars since I am pushing it beyond what it was designed for.

An absolute must have addition to your Chameleon hammock set-up. Just bought one a couple weeks ago and took it with me for a section of the Appalachian Trail. Setting up and tearing down was such a breeze not having to detach my under quilt and my top quilt I simply stuffed into my sidecar-sleeve. And everything stuffed right into the bag together. I also love that the sack just hangs on the suspension no getting lost misplaced or blown off by a strong wind. It even has a nice pocket on the lid to store your treestraps.

I love the concept of having my entire setup in one bag. Just like using a tarp snake skin. Makes packing and unpacking on trail MUCH faster. In my initial testing I purchased the large size. I can not fit my winter kit at all. Thats a 0 degree UQ and 10 degree TQ by hammock gear. The max I can fit is a 20 degree UQ with UQ protector and 10 degree TQ and it’s STUFFED! But now I should mention the size and shape fully stuffed makes packing into a pack awkward. I tried my Packs Arc Blast and my Osprey Exos and the stuffed sack only fits vertically. Which leaves a little to be desired for packability. You are left with an arms width down the side of the pack. Which could be for jackets and clothes to be stuffed. (traditionally) I personally like to stuff all that down into the bottom of my pack. You can shove it all in there and it molds the the pack. I honestly kind of think the whole compression sack part of this is completely unnecessary. If it were JUST the mesh portion it would be WAY easier to pack down into the pack. And it would probably weigh half the amount it does. At about 6oz for the large size you have to consider the extra weight being worth it. I think for summer kits or shoulder season kits that max at a 20 degree system UQ/TQ. Unless you have a more packable setup than what I have. Again- great concept. VERY well made. When I was shoving everything into the sack I was thinking I was going to pop a seam. I will say that I have dyneema stuff sacks I use for clothes only and the draw cord seams will eventually rip. I see that being the weak part of this kit. The draw cord after stuffing will more than likely be the first area to wear down and fail depending on how stuffed you stuff it. I have a winter trip coming up in a few weeks I was hoping to use this for but I’m not sure it make sense. But I think more than often I’d want it for winter to save my fingers from FREEZING. Maybe I’ll purchase some Cloud fabric and make a simple draw sack myself.
